Create a keyboard shortcut in Excel for Mac. On the Tools menu, click Customize Keyboard. In the Categories list, click a tab name. In the Commands list, click the command that you want to assign a keyboard shortcut to. Any keyboard shortcuts that are currently assigned to the selected command will appear in the Current keys box. Finally, some Excel shortcuts are just plain different on a Mac. For example, the shortcut for Edit Cell in Windows is F2, and on a Mac, it's Control + U. I've got version 16.34 of mac excel. I'm trying to modify some of the shortcuts. For instance, control + u - i would like to change to command + 2. If I got to toolscustomize keyboard, it requires me to find the description of the command as it is in the ribbon and then I can change it. Excel and any other open workbooks will remain open. Windows: Alt+F4. If you want to close out of Excel completely, including any open workbooks, this is the shortcut to use. It's the same as clicking on the X in the upper right corner. Again, you may be prompted to save your work before it closes.
