Instant Client Release Notes

How to install Oracle Instant Client Version 12.1.0.2 (64-bit) on a Mac (OS X 10.11.5) I have downloaded version 12.1.0.2 (64-bit) version and unzipped the file. I now have the following files under /downloads/instantclient.

  1. How to install Oracle Database on Mac OS Sierra 10.12 or above. You can use the terminal to connect to the database but it’s better use a client. It’s easier to manage this way.
  2. DBeaver - Universal Database Manager and SQL Client. DBeaver is free and open source (GPL) universal database tool for developers and database administrators. Usability is the main goal of this project, program UI is carefully designed and implemented. It is based on open source framework and allows writing of various extensions (plugins).

The following section contains information about the issue related to Oracle Database Instant Client 12c:

Pro*C Does Not Support C99 Headers

The Pro*C parser fails to recognize C99 headers on Apple Mac OS X El Captain, Apple Mac OS X Yosemite, and Apple Mac OS X Mavericks.

This issue has no workaround.

This issue is tracked with Oracle bug 16061064.
